Philip Wells (info@thefire poet.com) will shortly be setting out on his trek across the country from Land's End to Anglesey, Philip aims to raise awareness of the billion people around our world who live barefoot and in poverty.  We are delighted to be 'walking' with him.

It was a great day...lots of sunshine, lots of support.  Philip walked barefoot around a three mile course in central London followed by children from St Mary's C E Primary Academy in Folkestone, some of their parents and supporters.

Barefoot Billion Launch at Somerset House LondonHe paused twice – once on Westminster Bridge to recite Wordsworth's famous poem 'On Westminster Bridge' which describes graphically the beauty of the nineteenth century early morning London scene and then by Oxo Tower when he reminded us of the Barefoot billion message as he narrated his poem 'Be the step'.

A great day and a great beginning.  For Philip there's a tough road ahead.  We want to 'Be the step' and be there with him so look out for regular updates on his progress.
