OceanStars :: Friday 7th December 2012 :: This Story
Ocean Stars Team 2012 returned to the UK on Sunday 4th November after a successful and busy visit 10 days visiting projects. We arrived in Sri Lanka on Friday 25th October with 30 suitcases filled to the brim with resources for spreading the story of the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" to all the children that belong to the OST family. The week that unfolded was full of adventure, laughter and smiles. In spite of team illness the hectic schedule was kept to, thanks to the help of translators and helpers on the ground, and the inspiring determination of our UK team members. I would like to personally thank the team for their tireless work in preparing for the trip and their hard work during the week. I would also like to thank all our supporters for their help in fund -raising and support for Ocean Stars Trust. Without your help we would not be able to do the work we do. Seeing the children wearing one of the 1,000 cut out crowns we took with us, crawling in and out of play tunnels transforming from a caterpillar to a butterfly, playing with sand, play dough, chasing bubbles, singing the Hokey Cokey, finger- painting, and enjoying a chocolate drink of Milo was a very emotional experience for us all. The simple pleasure of play was reintroduced to the children whose parents belong to a generation who had not been able to play during the 35- year civil war. The impact of this annual visit to all in Sri Lanka is phenomenal.
Every single project supported by Ocean Stars was visited by the team. Time and time again we were thanked for bringing joy, happiness and hope into the lives of these forgotten communities in Sri Lanka.
So Thanks again to you all for all your support and as 2012 draws to a close I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a Peaceful New Year 2013.
