Many congratulations to Steve and Francis for completing their epic bike ride from Land's End to John o'Groats. Also a BIG thank you to Steve and Francis for raising funds for Ocean Stars. We are so proud of you both.

 

A few words from Steve.........

We Made It!

It's over two weeks now since we completed the ride and already those two weeks feel more like two months.

I'll take this opportunity just to round things off, firstly in terms of how much we have managed to raise for our three chosen charities. Donations continue to come in, and at the last count all three charities were up around the £400 mark. Many thanks to all who have contributed, and just in case anyone still wants to add a few pounds to our totals the JustGiving webpage will remain live for just a few more days now - till 11th August.  The address once again is:   www.just-giving.com/teams/steveandfrancis

We finally got to John o' Groats on schedule at around 5 pm on Friday 21st July. We had booked in that night at a B&B roughly half way between J o'G and Thurso, giving us 10 last miles to ride that day (into a headwind). We celebrated our achievement with a pub meal and - you guessed it - several welcome beers.

Our final mileage came to slightly over 1100k, giving us an average of around 70 miles per day for our 16 days of riding. Overall the weather was not kind to us, but still there were plenty of high points to offset the inevitable low points. For me, the wild magnificence of Sutherland and parts of Caithness made the last two days of riding especially memorable.
