Fundraising - how we do it

Fundraising is a primary source of income for Ocean Stars Trust.

Ruth Hughes our fundraising manager works tirelessly all year to make sure we have a full calendar of events to fund our work in Sri Lanka.

Some of our fundraising Events

Curry Evening

Our annual curry night! Wow!

Yet again our faithful supporters (joined with several new faces) turned out on this glorious May evening to enjoy a veritable feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

Our friends were able to enjoy their meal to the lovely accompaniment of music provided by Mr Ross Walker, Head of Music, Calthorpe Park School, Fleet.

Many thanks to them and to our very own master of ceremonies, John, for making the night go so well.

With the team of other friends who made curries, rotis, cakes etcetera, not forgetting the table preparation helpers and washers up, (without whom the event would not have gone so smoothly) the evening went very well and again the result was brilliant!

It really is a tribute to Dilanee that this is now firmly on the calendar each year and that no one wants to miss.

If you are new to OST and live in Fleet (providing you enjoy curries of course) do join us next year you won't be disappointed that you did!

Ocean Stars Cake Sales

On Sunday 25th September Amy and Sophie held an Ocean Stars Trust afternoon tea at Amy's parent's house to raise money for the October trip to Sri Lanka. There were a delicious and huge range of cakes, sandwiches, tea and coffee, baked by friends and family. It was a great opportunity to talk about the amazing work Ocean Stars does and to share what we will be doing during the trip with everyone that attended and so kindly donated money to the charity! An amazing £330 was raised! We also had a slide show of all the photos Sophie took last year so everyone could see what ocean stars does.

Quiz Evenings

A popular event when over ten teams gather to have an evening of laughter and fund and of course try and win the quiz! Around 70 supporters attend our quiz evening which brings in around £650 for the work of OST. Jen and James two team volunteers raised over £1000 at a recent quiz they organised as part of their fund raising efforts for the trip.

Car Boot Sales

Taking part in a car boot sale is a popular way for our volunteers to try and raise the required £500 for the work of Ocean Stars as part of their volunteering programme. Sophie and her mum raised over £75 at a car boot sale for OST.

Sponsored Walks

Dan Bunter

On the 22nd July I will be walking the Royal Walk from Windsor Castle to Buckingham Palace. The route mainly follows the Thames Path, passing through Shepperton, Teddington and Putney before reaching central London and the finishing straight down the Mall. The route will be approximately 50 miles long, so certainly promises to be a tough challenge!

I am fundraising for Ocean Stars Trust who run educational projects in North and Eastern Sri Lanka following devastation from the 2004 Tsunami and 30 year civil war.

I will be volunteering with Ocean Stars Trust in October and having volunteered on previous occasions I know how far your donations go towards empowering young children in Sri Lanka through ensuring access to quality education.

On Saturday 6th May 35 supporters and volunteers walked 7 miles around Fleet to raise money for OST. They set off at 9.00 pm and the whole group had completed the walk by 12.30pm.
