Irasamaanikkam Jeyakumar
Irasamaanikkam Jeyakumary has been working as a preschool teacher for 14 years. Ocean Stars took over the school 12 years ago and Irasamaanikkam has seen a huge improvement. She says "Our school is given school uniforms and school bags for both children and teachers once a year. We also receive resources needed by the school as well as, sports equipment, toilet, learning material and furniture".
"The Teacher Training provided increases our skills and the breakfast programme has increased the health of the students as well as the attendance. The level of achievement the students now attain is easier to analyse via the child development programme, which we undertake three times a year."
Irasamaanikkam is provided with a monthly salary which enables her to continue to teach whilst supporting her family. She tells us that apart from Ocean Stars no organisation came forward to help, she is proud to work with Ocean Stars and looks forward to continuing this journey.
A.Selvamalar
A.Selvamalar has been working in a preschool for 21 years. The school in which she works has been supported by Ocean Stars for the last 6 years.
She is thankful to Ocean Stars for the support as she can see the school growing, the support it receives with the provision of uniforms and the breakfast programme has increased attendance, nutritional intake and academic progress.
She says; "Ocean Stars has given a lot of support and is helping to run the school, providing nourishment for the children and increasing the teacher's skills. The salary enables me to look after my family".

Sirikaran Vinoj
Sirikaran Vinoja has a 5 year old and chose the Ocean Stars preschool due to the education quality of the teachers.
She tells us that Ocean Stars provides Teacher training for teachers which means the children get a quality education.
The child development programme enables the child's intelligence to increase as it targets areas for improvement.
Her child is provided with a school uniform and bag once a year and the school receives the necessary resources.
She says; "We are very happy as this helps the School and us a lot. We feel privileged that our school operates under Ocean Stars".
Kunaselvam Theepa
Kunaselvam Theepa has three children all of whom study/studied at the preschool. All her children are doing well, and she tells us that is because of the teachers. She says;
"They teach our children by getting teacher training from Ocean Stars. Also, doing the child development program once a year is very helpful in understanding the children's progress".

K. Paskaran
K. Paskaran (BA.MA, PGDE) is the principal of a. Bt/Kudiyiruppu Kalaimagal Vidyalaya Chenkalady 02. He says; "Many children come to our school from preschool. Even more so many Aharam Ocean Stars preschool children will come to our school. Those preschool teachers are talented and kind. their teaching method is very good. Their behaviour is very different when compared to other preschool children. They come to our school once a week and ask the teachers about their children's academic status.
We are able to monitor their educational level through the Child Development Tool used. It is also very easy for our teachers to identify the children. Ocean Stars Aharam preschool children come forward to act with enthusiasm. I am thankful for giving these opportunities to the Ocean Stars Aharam preschool children."
Kanapathippillai Vivekananthan
Kanapathippillai Vivekananthan (BA.BED). is the principal of a. Bt/Kanista Vidyalaya Ampilanthurai. He says; "More children come to our school from Shining Star
Ocean Stars Preschool. Shining Star preschool children actually act with enthusiasm compared to other preschool children. Because the teachers there also focus on the children in a very beautiful way. Parents there will also pay more attention to their children's studies. I have also visited that preschool many times and observed the teacher's method of teaching. The two teachers there are very active and guide the children as well. I have also observed in my school that Shining Star children will excel in any subject as compared to other students. Very intelligent children. The reason for this is the child development tool used, through this tool, teachers can easily identify the academic personality of children. This tool is very useful for helping children. Not only that, Ocean Stars have also provided a lot of help to the preschool. No other preschool has received such assistance. But I am very happy that Shining Star Preschool got this opportunity."
