Children without homes are the most vulnerable in the world
Supporting Mahadeva Children's Home in Kilinochchi
The goal of the Mahadeva Children's Home is not only to provide children with a family, but also to be self-sustaining - they have vast amounts of land on which they farm bananas and other fruit, teak and even have a dairy farm. They have over 200 children who have been placed into their care by the courts - either orphans, children of single parents who can't afford to support them, or parents who have abandoned them.
Over the years Ocean Stars has provided the preschool linked with Mahadeva a new playground, a kitchen, a study room, as well as providing resources for the pre-schools. Ocean Stars also provides a monthly donation towards the expenses of the children at Mahadeva.
The children are amongst the neediest in Sri Lanka - many regularly visit the hospital for treatment of shrapnel they still carry, others are undergoing counselling for the atrocities they've seen.
Supporting a child for a month costs £45 or providing lunch to the entire 'home' community for one day is £90.
Thank you for helping to pay for our meals. We would be living on the streets if it wasn't for Mahadeva Children's Home and the generosity of Ocean Stars Trust.
