Schools Fundraising

School Fundraising

Whether A small event or large, there is no right answer. Every penny raised changes a Child's life!

There are plenty of ways for a school to get involved in fundraising. It can be a one-off fundraiser and donation, or it could be that the school decides to make Ocean Stars their dedicated charity. This could be for a period of time or linked continuously. We have examples of every type and are indebted to the help and dedication the schools bring.

If you are planning a fundraiser and need some inspiration, check out our list below :

  • Bake Sale – Get out the apron and start baking to help change lives. Maybe a British bake-off type activity or MasterChef for savoury together and name your own challenge
  • Christmas Jumper Day – Get your school sparkled up and celebrate not only Christmas but also fundraising.
  • Name the... - Get your pupils to guess the name of a teddy, a tune or gather everyone's baby photos together and ask them to guess who each baby is - for a small donation of course!
  • Sports Day - Include a parent and child challenge in your annual sports day and ask the parents to donate to enter.
  • Non-Uniform Day – Pick a theme, maybe Sri Lanka and get each student to donate £1 to wear non-uniform.
  • Swimathon – Challenge the students to swim a certain number of lengths as a relay team within a certain time – getting sponsorships along the way.
  • Tuck – Sell tuck at breaks for a profit and proceeds are collected and profits are donated
  • Budding Entrepreneurs – For the older students, especially those engaged in business courses, give them £5 and challenge them to turn the investment into £100 over a period of time. Anything raised over the £5 is donated to Ocean Stars.

We have strong links with several schools who fundraise for us you can see some of these links by clicking here.

Calthorpe Park School

Calthorpe Park school have been supporting Ocean Stars for many years. Every year they undertake a trip to Sri Lanka. A significant amount of fundraising is undertaken prior to departure and the school also take with them items, like a organ which they dedicate to a school. They also raise funds for wells, play parks etc.

Other schools fundraise for a particular donation. For example, the Royal Hospital school in Ipswich fundraised and we created a smart classroom which is helping not only the children but university and secondary children as well.

The link schools run various fundraising activities and have donated both time, resources and money to the preschool they are linked with.

Church Crookham Junior School

Church Cookham junior school also has a long history with Ocean Stars. They have donated money to build wells whenich enable fresh water as well as other resources to help equip the preschools.

The schools not only learn about Sri Lanka but play a vital part in our fundraising activities. If you need a speaker please contact us.
