OST BIKE RIDE FROM LONDON TO BRIGHTON SUNDAY 17TH JUNE 2012

OceanStars :: Monday 2nd July 2012 :: Latest Blog Posts

A team of 14 people cycled from London to Brighton to raise funds for the work of OST. We set off from Fleet at 6.30am in two minibuses. We met up in Clapham with two team members who were joining us from London.

The team had an amazing day. We set off from Clapham Junction between 8.30 and 8.50am and joined 37,000 cyclists on the epic ride. Getting out of London was the biggest challenge as we had to negotiate our way through traffic, traffic lights, roundabouts and tricky junctions. The country side was beautiful and the hills kept our hearts pumping all the way. There was of course the OST elite group that finished at 2.00pm followed by the OST rapid group that finished at 4.00pm followed by the OST slow but steady group that finished at 6.00pm. We got back to Fleet around 10.30pm tired but proud of what we had achieved and thankful for the wonderful weather and that we did not have any mechanical problems with our 16 bikes.

The idea for the bike ride came after one of our OST Team 2012 meetings and someone mentioned that it might be good to do the bike ride as a way of fund-raising. Wow what an amazing achievement that had been.

I would like to thank all the OST Happy Bikers, friends and well wishers who have all donated for the work of OST through just giving and sponsorship forms. At the moment we have raised over £2,500 and for this we are truly grateful to you all.  The Just Giving page has raised £1,055.00 and is still open for donations.  Thank you.
