2025 has been a year of joyful celebrations as we mark the 20th anniversary of Ocean Stars Trust. Founded in January 2005 in the aftermath of the devastating Boxing Day tsunami of 2004, the Trust has spent the last two decades working to bring hope, opportunity, and education to children and communities across Sri Lanka.
The year began with a wonderful celebration in the UK on 22nd March, where supporters, volunteers, and friends of Ocean Stars came together to reflect on our journey and achievements. Ocean Stars Lanka (OSL) continued the celebrations with a vibrant event on Thursday 10th July, held during Founder Dilanee Balthazaar's visit to Sri Lanka.
Preschools across the island have joined in the celebrations in their own special ways. Numerous birthday cakes-decorated with our iconic blue Ocean Stars theme-have been shared and enjoyed by hundreds of children as part of these joyful milestones.
A particularly meaningful moment came when Abdul Basith, one of our original sponsor children, travelled to the UK to attend the March celebration. His presence was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of our work over the past 20 years. Here is a video capturing the event, highlighting the stories and spirit of the Ocean Stars community.
