Saravanapavan preschool welcomed us with fresh flowers garlands and 33 children who were intrigued to meet us, although initially quite shy.
The school was very well organised, the children were extremely attentive and keen to interact and learn.
Their ages and levels of development varied but all persevered with finishing their butterflies and helped each other. They also guided us to children who needed our help, reflecting a spirit of kindness within the school.
The mothers produced a nutritious and healthy meal with the most basic of resources and were keen to tell us the difference the feeding programme had made. Not only were more children coming to school but the mothers were making friends and building relationships in the community, which was not happening before.
It was a pleasure to be at the school and thank you to the teachers, mothers, children and Disha for making the morning run so smoothly in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Even the chickens and cockerel in the school yard seemed pretty chilled!
