Monday blog
I was at Kanchirankuda preschool, far in the rural area - about 30-40 minutes squashed in a tuk tuk with resources, translator and photographer.
There were about 20 kids - 2 or 3 kids were away sick with fever. After being garlanded, twice, I was led to the front door by several eager hands. We did some songs (acapella) and an interactive version of the caterpillar story focusing on colours, numbers and imagination - what would you do... what happens next...? Thanu did a great job not only translating but co-teaching with me.
Then it was Milo and lunch, which was rice, dahl, veg curry, fish curry and mango slice. Some couldn't eat it all as they were full with Milo too, so they put the leftover lunch in their little lunchboxes to eat later at home.
We were not forgotten with chocolate cake, banana and the ever-present Milo.
After lunch we did colouring, making of hats, dancing and singing and lollipops.
They loved roaring to the Hokey Cokey and made some very lovely hats - lively kids. Some took a shine to the caterpillars that were then retrieved several times from different corners of the room!!
Then there was a final photo shoot, donation of resources and goodbyes with the children who asked if I was coming back tomorrow. I take that as a win!
